Besides fishing the lake is great for water sports. Early summer mornings you can see a few knee and wake boarders skimming across the glass-like water. Jet skis are permitted and abundant. Likewise there are a lot of water skiers jumping their boats wake. Sailing is also common but most of the sailors are on the main body of the lake. Water levels vary throughout the year as the dam is hydroelectric and controls the draw of the lake. During times of a water shortage the lake can drop to near nothing, though this is rare. Most common is a slight draw down in the winter months, which allows pier repairs to be done. During the summer months water levels are pretty consistent. Overall, High Rock is a wonderful lake for all types of people. It is one of the last remaining affordable lakes in the area.
